Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSIE MAE ROGERS October 6, 1934 - May 28, 2009 Peacefully, on May 28, 2009, Elsie passed away at the Grace Hospice at the age of 74. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Myrtle Hunter; and siblings, Hazel, Alex and Beatrice. Elsie will be lovingly missed by her husband of 49 years, Paul; daughter Wendy, her husband Peter Merks and their children, Kathryn and Trevor; son Marcus, his wife June and their children, Jillian and Jordan. She will also be remembered by her siblings, Avis, Gordon and William; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Elsie was born and raised in Strathclair, Manitoba. As a young woman she joined the Air Force where she met Paul. Elsie and Paul ended up in Winnipeg after living in every province between BC and the Maritimes. Elsie was always involved in her community; she volunteered at the Grace, Deer Lodge and was a member of The Eastern Star and the United Church. She held many jobs over the course of her career, her favourite being librarian at Gimli Composite High School. Elsie enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. Elsie was caring and compassionate; everyone who met Elsie liked her due to her happy and outgoing nature. A private family service will be held. The family would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Elsie.
