LORRAINE MENARD (nee LEBLANC) Peacefully, with her family by her side, Lorraine Ménard (née Leblanc) passed away on May 28, 2009, at the St. Boniface General Hospital at 61 years of age. Left to cherish memories and celebrate her life are her loving husband of 40 years, Rosaire; her two daughters: Lynn (Daniel) Gobeil and Brigitte (Gilles) Abraham; grandchildren: Amélie, Bryanne and Gabrielle; her two brothers: Roméo (Lorraine) and Guy (Yolande); her mother-in-law Andéole, brother-in-law Vincent (Cathy) as well as nieces, a nephew, family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Roger and Méa, and her father-in-law Jean. Lorraine was born and raised in St. Léon, Manitoba and graduated from high school in Somerset, Manitoba in 1965. She married Rosaire in 1968 and shortly thereafter they moved to Glenlea, Manitoba where they raised two wonderful daughters. Her passions in life were family, gardening, hosting and celebrating many of life's events with flare. There was never an occasion too small to warrant one of her famous theme parties. Lorraine enjoyed her career as a teacher's assistant. She helped many children develop skills through her gentle and creative ways. She touched the hearts of many students and staff members at Ecole Noël-Ritchot. Lorraine retired in 2004 and spent her remaining years enjoying her grandchildren. Lorraine will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her sense of humor, her willingness to help others and positive attitude towards life. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family wishes to express their thanks to the compassionate staff in the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Boniface General Hospital. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 2nd at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Norbert Roman Catholic Church, 80 St. Pierre Street. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at a later date in the St. Norbert parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 9Z9.
