STANLEY LEONARD WITOSKI 1928 2009 Surrounded by those who loved him best, Stan Witoski peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the St. Boniface Hospital. He will be forever missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Carol; their children Joyce (Richard) Gmiterek, Gail Witoski (fiancée Sheldon Koslovsky), Lynda (Glen) Kaatz and Len (Tammy) Witoski. He was a proud Papa of Jordan (Shauna), Keri, Brady and Kiley Gmiterek, Rhianon and Joel Baker, Samantha, Amanda and Steven Kaatz, Jessica and Alex Witoski. Stan will also be remembered by brother Ted (Joan) Witoski, sister Frances Staska and sisters-in-law Pat Dawson and Frances Jerema. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Katherine Witoski, brother Rene Dawson and sister Bernice Lauber. Stan was born in Tyndall, MB on the family farm on July 21, 1928. He married Carol Sliva in 1953. They began their journey in Winnipeg and in 1963 they moved to Beausejour to raise their family. Being an entrepreneur, Stan always had his hand in different ventures. He was an active volunteer who gave endless hours to the community he called home. In 1996 he received the Eastern Regional Volunteer Award of the Year. Stan was the first Grand Knight of the newly formed Knights of Columbus Council. He held executive positions on the Broken-Beau Historical Society and the Over 50 Club. In the past few years he enjoyed participating with Citizens on Patrol. Life was a never ending adventure. His greatest passions were fishing and storytelling. And what stories they were! Enjoying cottage life at Nutimik Lake, Stan spent many happy hours on the lake fishing for just one more big one. Special thanks to all our friends and family for their caring words and prayers. Thank you to Dr. Zeiler, staff at the Beausejour Hospital and St. Boniface Hospital ICU. With gratitude and thanks to the Beausejour Knights of Columbus. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, June 3 at 7:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East, Beausejour. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 4 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 516 Atlantic Avenue, Beausejour with interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
