JEAN FARNCOMBE Peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Lion's Prairie Manor, Portage la Prairie, Jean Farncombe, beloved wife of Gordon Farncombe, passed away at the age of 79 years. Jean was born at High Bluff, daughter of the late Les and Marj Lytle and she grew up and attended school there. Jean enjoyed cooking, ceramics, curling, travelling and fishing in her earlier years. All children's sporting events were a highlight for her. She was a member of the U.C.W. in High Bluff and the Ruth Rebekah Lodge in Portage la Prairie. For thirty four years Jean enjoyed operating the High Bluff General Store with her husband Gordon. Also together they delivered meals on wheels in Portage la Prairie. Left to mourn her passing, besides her husband Gordon, are three sons: Craig (Joan), Grant (Heather) and Kevin (Brenda), seven grandchildren: Sheri, Brett (Laura-Lea), Jeffrey (Dorothy), Jody (Andrea), Chad (Shantel), Brandon and Haley, and four great-grandchildren; JayLea, Hannah, Evan and Lane. Also one brother Jim Lytle (Isabelle) and numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her parents, her sister Gwen Attwood, brother-in-law Gerry Attwood and nephew Lesley Lytle. At Jean's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral service. A family interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery at a later date. If friends so desire, contributions to the Lion's Prairie Manor Foundation Inc, 24 Ninth Street S.E., Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3V4 would be appreciated.
