EMILIEN ALARIE On Monday June 1, 2009 at the Ste. Anne Hospital, Emilien Alarie, born June 17 1933, passed away peacefully with his family at his side. Emilien was the youngest son of Antoine Alarie and Theopheline Campeau. He had four brothers and five sisters. Emilien spent his entire life in Sainte Agathe where he received the sacraments of the church and his elementary education. He continued his education at the Juniorat de Saint Boniface. Following in his father's footsteps he inherited the family farm in 1960 after having joined his life with Alice Vachon who would be his faithful companion for the next 49 years. Emilien was ever faithful to his marriage vows of for better or for worse, in sickness and in health and together they instilled strong Christian family values in their children and grandchildren with whom they loved to spend much of their time. Pop loved to sing at church, in the Melomanie choir, amateur nights and family get-togethers. He was a member of the seniors club and participated in theatre performances, card games, shuffleboard tournaments and organized trips. Travelling was one of his favourite activities. He always looked forward to family adventures and his winter trips to Florida with his brothers and sisters. During his free time Emilien loved to relive precious family moments by watching videos, looking at photos, reading newspaper articles and greeting cards. Emilien will be grieved by his beloved wife Alice Vachon, his son Raymond (Diane Drapeau), Nadine, Mathieu, Eric: his twin daughters, Jeanne (Marc) Remillard, Paul, Roxanne, Janelle: Jeannette (Guy) Desmarais, Serge, Mario, Colin, Patrick. He will also be grieved by five sisters, Lucille and Berthe (fdlc), Jeannine (Albert) Courcelles, Mariette (Daniel) Pintkowsky, Therese (Michel Langlois) Alarie; two brothers, Jean (Yvette Forest), and Laurent (omi); eight sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Therese (sgm), Jeanne (Come) Fillion, Irene (Arthur) Boulet, Annette (Roger) Blaise, Cecile (Marcel) Bourgouin, Jean (Marie Roy) Vachon, Eugene (Dolores Archambault) Vachon, Marie-Ange (Leon) Ricard, Gerard (Diane Chartrand) Vachon, Marcel (Aline Grise) Vachon, Helene (Jim) Ross as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. The celebration of Emilien's life will be held June 4, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at the Ste. Agathe Roman Catholic Church with Father Alphonse Bongo presiding, assisted by Father Laurent Alarie. The family wishes to thank Dr. Bissonnette and all of the staff at the Sainte Anne Hospital for the wonderful care they provided to Emilien and for the support offered to the family. A special thanks to Sister Irene Rioux for her prayers and comforting words. Many thanks go out to family and friends who visited Emilien during his illness to offer their prayers and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation or another charity of your choice. DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
