JOHN KOPYTKO The Kopytko family is saddened to announce that after a courageous battle with Parkinson's, Johnny passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2009, at the age of 78 years at the McCreary/Alonsa Personal Care Home. He is survived by brothers, Walter (Julie), Peter (Janet), Ernie (Shirley), Joey (Karen) and sisters, Mary Tereck, Effie Mospanchuk, Aileen Ross, Doreen (Ron) Dilk as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Irene Kopytko in 1958, his father John Kopytko in 1964, grandparents Stephan and Matrona Kopytko, grandma Anna Puhach, brother William at birth, brothers Henry and Fred, sisters, Katie, Ann and Olga and brothers in law, Steve Tereck, Joe Henowitch, Fred Tereck, Walter Chrustie, Tony Mospanchuk, and Leonard Ross. Throughout his life, John enjoyed gardening, looking after his flowers and the yard. He also loved baking and cooking meals. Anybody that walked in was always welcomed with a cup of tea and lunch. In the past years, John was a frequent participant in bingo games at Alonsa and most of the surrounding communities. John was always willing to give a helping hand to his dear family and friends. Funeral service is being held Friday, June 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Alonsa Community Centre, Alonsa, Manitoba. Interment to follow at St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery with Father Emil Kardasinec as celebrant. Pallbearers are Stanley Henowitch, Richard Tereck, Murray Kopytko, Leonard Tereck, Darren Kopytko, and Marc Kopytko. The family wishes to extend gratitude and thanks to the nurses and staff of the McCreary/Alonsa Personal Care Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in John's memory to the McCreary/Alonsa Personal Care Home Box 250 McCreary, Manitoba R0J 1B0.
