WILLIAM PHILLIP (BILL) LUTZ It is with a heavy heart the family announces the passing of Bill Lutz after his courageous battle with cancer. He leaves cherished memories to Heather, his loving wife of 50 years, son Doug (Nancy), daughters Alisa (Duane) Mailey and Laurie (Ron) Zrobek and grandchildren, Heather, Tyler, Megan, Corey and Cassidy. Bill was born to Mary and Jack Lutz in Winnipeg on October 10, 1936 and leaves a sister Caroline McAuley and brother Brian Lutz. As a teenager his summers were spent at Ingolf, ON where he met Heather, the love of his life. They were married in 1959 and were looking forward to celebrating their 50th Anniversary on July 4. Many happy years were spent at the lake enjoying time with his children and grandchildren, snowmobiling, canoeing and summer activities. You could always find him busy working on special projects such as the addition to his cottage, or helping his children with their homes. Bill has always been active and helped found the Ingolf 39ers, compiled the Ingolf phone book, served on the ICA and Ingolf Roads boards. Bill was a builder/handyman and enjoyed doing it all including carpentry, electrical, plumbing and stone masonry. Bill was also not one to get left behind on technology and was always checking out new electronics and gadgets. His career spanned 38 years with MTS. He started his career in 1953 in the mailroom at the age of 16, and then became a lineman and worked as an installer in various areas. In 1967 he moved to Sales in the new Business Communications department, working in various Sales and Management roles and retired in 1991 as Business Office Manager. Bill's retirement was mostly spent at the lake with family. When not at the lake he enjoyed travelling (Portugal, Hawaii, London, England, Alaska, Arizona, Texas and Churchill), dancing, wine making and a long standing tradition of Friday night poker with his MTS friends. Bill just recently returned from a family vacation in Puerto Rico. He has left his family with many fond memories and will be dearly missed by all who shared in his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Ingolf Campers Association, 54 Breland Bay, Winnipeg, R3X 2C2. A memorial service and a celebration of his life will be held on Friday, June 5, 11:00 a.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 3030 Notre Dame Avenue, across from Brookside Cemetery.
