Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryL. JOANNE GREENE April 23, 1925 - June 2, 2009 Laura Josephine (Joanne) Greene died on June 2, 2009. The third child of Joseph Harold Greene and Victoria Laura Greene (nee Sinclair), Joanne was born in Winnipeg on April 23, 1925. She attended schools in Winnipeg, graduating from Gordon Bell High School. Subsequently she trained at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1947. She was granted a Public Health Diploma by the University of Toronto in 1952, and a Bachelor of Nursing degree by McGill University in Montreal in 1963. Her nursing career included employment as a stewardess with Trans Canada Airlines, Public Health nursing in both Vancouver and with the Manitoba Department of Public Health where she became a Public Health Nursing Consultant, retiring in 1990. Joanne has been a lifelong member of Westminster United Church, and was a longtime member of The University Women's Club in Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her father in 1965 and her mother in 1982, her brother Harold S. in 1933, all in Winnipeg, and her sister F. Evalyn Allingham in 1994 in Vernon, BC. She is survived by many friends and cousins. At her request cremation has taken place. A family graveside service will be held at a later date, at the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery in Winnipeg.
