GARNET VICTOR OGEMAH December 9, 1959 - May 29, 2009 It is with great sorrow and deep respect that we announce the passing of our big brother, father, uncle, grand uncle, nephew, cousin, partner, and lifelong friend, Garnet. Garnet Victor Ogemah passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on Friday, May 29, 2009 at the age of 49 years. Garnet was born December 9, 1959 in Kenora, Ontario and later attended both Cecilia Jeffery and St. Mary's Residential Schools. He was a very talented guitar player, loved being in the great outdoors and visiting lifelong friends/family in Kenora, Ontario. He loved spending time with his soulmate, Shirley and fishing/hunting with their sons, Cody and Darren in the Pas, Manitoba. Garnet was predeceased by his parents Louis Sr. and Eileen Ogemah; grandparents Mae and Ed Williams, Frank Sinclair (grandpa Frank); uncles Archie Ogemah Sr., Andrew Ogemah Sr.; Eddie Jr. (Porky), Claude and Ralph Williams; aunts Martha and Eva Ogemah; and cousin Andrew Ogemah Jr. He is survived by his wife Shirley; sons Garnet Cody Ogemah Jr., Darren and Rocky; and daughter Cheryl (Lyle). Grandchildren: Chelsea, Dakota, Delores, Shane, Marcus, Selena, Brody, Mandy and Brandy. Grand nephew Conway Bealieu. Nieces: Orenda, Gabrielle and Jericha. Nephews: Darryl, Conway, Tanner and Donovan. Uncles: Percy, Don, and Gilbert Ningewance. Aunts: Irene Williams, Patricia Ningewance-Nadeau, Agnes Ogemah and Pamela Sinclair-Karney. Close friend Kenny Skead. Sisters: Cynthia (Serge), Sally (Jason), and Genevieve (Marvin). Brothers: Vernon ( Sam ) and Louis Jr. Close cousins: Leona, Bobby, Lisa, Archie Jr., Robert, and Michael. The family would like to thank the Tache Centre and it's care givers for making our big brother's last days as comfortable as possible. Thank you to Lac Seul, Dalles and Rat Portage First Nations for their generosity, kindness and compassion who opened their doors and made Garnet's final journey home peaceable. Thank you also to Brown Funeral Home Cremation Centre. The Wake was held at Wauzhusk Onigum First Nations Community Center on Thursday, June 4, 2009. Interment will take place on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Wauzhusk Onigum First Nations.
