JEAN BROADFOOT Born in Winnipeg, Jean Broadfoot was predeceased by her father William and her mother Agnes as well as her younger brother Clifford who was killed over Germany during the Second World War. Jean will be missed by her surviving cousins and their families as well as by her many friends, especially those in church and musical circles. Jean was proud of her Scottish heritage. She was educated in Winnipeg, Toronto and London, England, and was a well-known piano teacher and adjudicator in Winnipeg for many years. Jean was also a long-time church organist at Bethesda Church at which she was a devoted member. She taught as well at both the University of Manitoba and The Canadian Mennonite Bible College (now Canadian Mennonite University). Jean loved the Church and she loved music in its many expressions. She also loved to travel, which she often did in connection with her musical expertise. Jean received many awards for her commitment and dedication to the musical world. Her students are prodigious in number, some world renowned, and have often formally accorded her their heartfelt thanks and admiration. At Jean's request, a graveside service will be conducted by her cousin, Reverend Dr. Robert Galston, at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Those attending, please gather at the Funeral Home at 1:45 p.m. Should anyone desire, donations may be made in Jean's name to the Registered Music Teachers' Association for their scholarship fund or to Bethesda Church, 1350 Grant Avenue in Winnipeg.
