METRO (MATT) FILL May 6, 1926 - June 4, 2009 Peacefully, at his home, Matt passed away on June 4, 2009. Matt will be lovingly remembered by his wife Carol; son Brian (Doris); grandsons Kevin and Jason. He is also survived by his sister Kay Hunnie; brothers Harry Phill and Nick Fill and sister Olga Woodvine. Matt was an extremely private person who enjoyed the closeness of his family at home, at the cottage and travelling. He was a man of great perseverance and commitment to his family and his work. Not a man of many words - but a thinker and inventor, having nine machines patented in his name at Canada Packers where he worked for 44 years - 22 years as a millwright and 22 years as a mechanical foreman. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 9 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Munroe and Brazier, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Matt's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one's choice.
