MARGARET (PEGGY) ROBERTSON It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Robertson announces her passing, peacefully on June 2, 2009 at Victoria General Hospital. Margaret or Peggy, as she was known affectionately by her family and friends, embraced life and all it had to offer. She arrived in Winnipeg from Newcastle upon Tyne, England in November of 1954 with her son John. She came to join her husband Andy who had come to Canada in June of the same year in the hopes of providing a better life for his family. Peggy got a position at Manitoba Health where she had many wonderful friends and worked as an administrator until retirement. Her deep commitment to her faith always gave her strength and a positive outlook on life. She loved to travel, including a yearly trip to Phoenix during the winter. Over the years there were many car trips to places which she fondly reminisced about. This generated such excitement that Peggy and Andy would begin to plan their next trip as soon as they were back from the previous one. She also had a passion for playing golf and they greatly enjoyed their 16 years playing at Southwood together where they made many wonderful friends who remained a part of their life long after they were no longer able to golf. Peggy was a fantastic cook who loved to entertain. Her home was always open and welcome to those who knew her. She enjoyed nothing more than cooking a roast beef dinner (with traditional Yorkshire puddings) on Sunday evenings for her son and his family. The dear friends that she made at SouthPark Estates were an incredible help in her moving from Townsend Avenue. Peggy and Andy always felt safe and at home with all their new-found friends, enjoying activities such as card games and bocce ball. It didn't hurt to have Fr. Carl living in the same block. She was married to Andy in 1944 and their love and devotion to each other was admired by all who knew them. She is survived by her beloved son John; daughter-in-law Gail; grandchildren, Jennifer and Rob and Spencer and Lauren; cherished sister-in-law and dear friend Pat; extra special nieces, Moira and Dorothy, as well as many other family members and dear friends across Canada, in Phoenix and in England. She will be greatly missed and will always be in our thoughts and hearts. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there by any more pain for the former things are passed away. - Revelations 21:4 Funeral liturgy will be celebrated by Father Carl Tarnopolski on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Mary Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of one's choice. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Send expressions of sympathy to www.mem.com
