KENNETH NORMAN TOLAND September 17, 1932 - June 2, 2009 It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of our dearly beloved husband and father, Kenneth, on June 2, 2009 at the Riverview Health Centre. Kenneth will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Geraldine; his dear sons Thomas and Malcolm, as well as his dear sister Sylvia Condon and brother-in-law Ron Farnfield. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Edna Toland; brothers: Gerald, Keith and Warren; sisters: Helen Roach and Audrey Linklater. Ken grew up in the Fort Garry Area attending Grandin School on Pembina Highway. He was active in sports and played hockey for the school team. Later on he developed a keen interest in golf, winning the Manitoba Men's Junior Golf Championship in 1950. Ken was in the consumer finance business for many years. He and his family lived in numerous cities across Canada settling back in Winnipeg in 1974, where he became involved in general insurance and real estate. He retired in 2001 but continued to remain active working as a security/doorman at 255 Wellington Crescent. He enjoyed the five and one-half years spent there meeting many fine people. Deteriorating health forced him to finally live a quieter life in 2006. The family extends a special thank you to the palliative care team for their wonderful care and compassion during Ken's illness. Our deep appreciation to Ron and Marlene, for their love and support. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
