BEN M. SHORE On Friday May 22, 2009, surrounded by his children, Benny Shore passed away peacefully at General Hospital at 90 years of age. Left with cherished memories are his wife of 67 years Ruth; children, Susan (Rick) Nordick, Dr. Richard (Andrea) Shore; grandchildren, Nikki, Matthew, Savannah, Farren, Julia and Nathan; sister Mickey Margolis and sister-in-law Tybie Croll. Dad owned Shore's Grill Restaurant for 38 years and took great pride in providing down to earth home-style meals and some of the best deli sandwiches in Winnipeg. Dad enjoyed his retirement and his ability to now dote on his wife and children and grandchildren-always putting them well before himself. He was a very kind, gentle and funny man. We will all miss him dearly. The family would like to thank the wonderful care given our father at the Dialysis Unit at Health Sciences Centre, Dr. Allan, Dr. Bernstein, Dr. Bueti, Dr. Chapman, Ricki Ross and Homecare (Mary Anne Syzek) for their help and kindness. As was Dad's wish, a graveside ceremony was held on May 24, 2009 at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue. Pallbearers were Dr. Gary Croll, Ted Croll, Colin Finlay, Gary Meltzer, Rick Nordick and Matthew Nordick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Health Sciences Centre Dialysis Unit on Sherbrook Avenue. We will all miss you.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

When I lived in Winnipeg, I worked for Canada Trust on Portage & Fort. Shore's Grill was where we all went for coffee, poached eggs, cinnamon buns, pie, sandwiches and the best double boiled bagels. Ruth and Ben were like our mom & dad, always a friendly greeting, a few jokes, inquiries as to our families etc. Those were precious memories. Ben was a remarkable spirit - he radiated kindness, consideration, gentleness. His love for Ruth was always evident, his pride in providing quality for a reasonable price was a balance he seemed to master. The world needs more Ben Shores. Prayers and condolences to Ruth and the family. - Posted by: Lesley Gibson (former customer) on: Jun 18, 2015
