EMILY DREGER (nee TREICHEL) October 23, 1924 - March 13, 2009 Emily was born in Chelm, Poland and immigrated to Canada with her parents and baby sister in 1927. She grew up with her five siblings near Emerson, Man. School teaching was her vocation from age 17 until her retirement in 1977. She taught in Sankiw, Golden Bay, Beausejour, and Winnipeg. She and Alfred met in Golden Bay and were married in 1945. They had one child, Joan. After her retirement, Emily and Alf moved to Fort Smith, N.W.T. After his death, she moved to Unity, Sask. Emily is survived by her daughter, Joan (Lorne) Shead, grandson Chris (Heather), great- grandchildren, Brett Litwin, Shayna Shead, Kelli Litwin of Hanna, Alta. and granddaughter Theresa (Lorenzo) Bacchetto, great-grand-children, Emilia, Dante of North Battleford, Sask. She is also survived by her sister, Martha of Winnipeg, brother Emil (Irene) of Boissevain, sister Dorothy Walters of Lethbridge, Alta., brother Larry (Andra) of Lethbridge, Alta., brother-in-law Ralph (Phyllis) of Winnipeg, sister-in-law Yvonne Treichel of Falher, Alta., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by Emily were her husband, Alfred (1981), mother, Lydia (1992), father, Adolph (1969), brother, Elwood (1986), brother-in-law, Stan (1992), father-in-law, Frederick (1977), mother-in-law, Johanna (1992) and sisters-in-law, Ella (1976) and Agnes (1989). The funeral service was held in The Lutheran Church of Unity, March 20, 2009 with Celebrant Reverend Howard Ulmer. Interment Beausejour, Man., Lutheran Cemetery, Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.
