MATTHEW KOCH November 8, 1912 - June 4, 2009 With his family by his side, Matthew passed away on June 4, 2009 at Riverview Health Centre. Matthew was 96 years old. He will be sadly missed by his sons Edward (Anne Marie), David (Carol), daughter Betty (Richard), daughter-in-law Monica, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Caroline Gottfried of Winnipeg and Joan Bennett of Chicago. He was predeceased by his wife Doris, and son Ken. Matt was born November 8, 1912 and worked as a carpenter and farmed most of his life. He was also an accomplished violinist. Matt was a positive person and very thankful for the love and attention from his family and long time friends. Thank you to Dr. Susser, and the Emergency Physician from St. Boniface General Hospital. A special thank you to Dr. St. Godard and staff of Palliative Care at Riverview for the exemplary care and compassion shown to Matt and his family. Cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael's Church in Gimli June 13 at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Fr. Wayne Morrissey. Interment will be at St. Peter Paul Cemetery in Berlo. In lieu of flowers, if people so desire, donations can be made to Berlo Cemetery, Box 3506, RR1, Gimli R0C 1B1 or Cancer Care Manitoba.
