Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY BABEY Mary Babey passed away peacefully at the Vita Personal Care Home June 7, 2009 at the age 95 years. Mary was born at Gardenton, Manitoba on November 18, 1913 the only child of John and Doris Babey. She was the oldest living resident of Middlebro, Manitoba and will long be remembered by many friends and cousins. Mary was predeceased by her parents John and Doris, uncle Matt and her aunt Ann. When she was seven years old when her parents settled in Middlebro where her dad was employed by C.N.R. as a trackman. Because there was no school in Middlebro, Mary attended school in Winnipeg, staying with friends of her parents. She completed grade four in Winnipeg, later finishing her schooling at the Ross L. Gray in Sprague, Manitoba. Afterwards she found employment at Steinbach Bethesda Hospital as a cleaning lady and in later years, found a summer job at Minaki Lodge in Ontario, so she could spend more time at home with her aging parents. When Mary's dad passed away, she decided to stay home to help her mom with the work around the house. It was very hard on Mary when her Mom passed away; she was already up in age herself and found it hard to continue on her own all by herself. Then she decided to apply for home care, it made her life a lot easier and she enjoyed the company. Mary enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and talking about old times with her friends. She wanted to stay home as long she possibly could and did until June of 2008 when she found by her home care workers lying beside her bed as she had fallen during the night. She was rushed by ambulance to Vita Hospital, and eventually place into the Vita Personal Care Home. Mary will be sadly missed by all who knew her. On behalf of Mary we the family would like to thank the staff at the Vita Personal Care Home for the patience and care she received, to the Vita Funeral Home for all their support and caring guidance, all her friends and home care workers. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the Middlebro Community Hall at 2:00 p.m. with burial at the Middlebro Community Cemetery in Middlebro, Manitoba.
