MARGARET JESSICA (JESSIE) GAUTHIER (SCOTT) (MACFARLANE) Peacefully, with family at her side, Jessie Gauthier passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2009, at the St. Boniface Hospital. Jessie is survived by sons Bill (Marlene); Roger (Jan) and daughter Rosemary; grand-children: Rene (Valeska); Marcel (Lauraine); Réal (Leanne); Jean Paul (Cathari) and Michelle (Yuu); Shaun (Susan); Kyle (Darla); great-grandchildren: Chantelle and Natalie, Stephanie and André, Mikka and Ciji, Rachelle and Melodie, Allie and Anna. She was predeceased by her husband Rene, grandson Brent, her niece Dianne Hunsley (nee Anderson) and numerous brothers and sisters. Jessie was born on December 5, 1913, in Nelson, BC, the youngest daughter of J. Mungo and Eleanor MacFarlane. After the death of her mother, she moved to Glen Ewen, SK at the age of 18 months to become the daughter of her aunt and uncle Margaret and John Scott. In 1921 she moved to Winnipeg with her family where she completed her education and in 1935 Jessie graduated from the St. Boniface Hospital School of Nursing where she was class valedictorian. She held various positions at St. Boniface Hospital and retired as Head of the Central Supply Department. She was highly regarded by her staff and for her caring and compassion for patients as well as an excellent role model for nurses. Mom's home was always the gathering place for family and friends who always enjoyed the warm hospitality and delicious meals. She loved times spent at Brereton Lake with her sisters and brothers. The family would like to thank the staff at Tache Centre for their care and kindness over the past two years and also the staff on 6A South of the St. Boniface Hospital for caring for our mother with such compassion and dignity. At her request, her body has been donated to the Department of Anatomy at the University of Manitoba. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in Young United Church, 222 Furby at Broadway.
