Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWENDY ANN STEWART It is with great sadness that the family of Wendy Ann Stewart announces her passing on Sunday, June 7, 2009 of a brain aneurysm. Beloved wife of Charlie, mother to Marcy (Jason) Skoryk and Jason (Nicole) Stewart; grandmother to Justin, Kayla and McKenna. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed all the family vacations and parties, as well as just time with her grandkids. Wendy was born in Selkirk, MB on October 20, 1958 to Mary and Eric Kirner. She was the only girl with five brothers, Karl (Donna), Gordon (Kathy), James (predeceased) (Paulette), Donald (Liz) and Thomas (Lianne). Wendy grew up in Little Britain, MB and went to school in Lockport, Mapleton and Selkirk, graduating in 1976. In July, 1978 she married Charlie and they started their life together, not only becoming husband and wife, but life partners. There were not many occasions that they weren't together. They built their house in Cloverdale (where Charlie grew up), and their home became the site for many family events. We all have many happy memories of these times and of Wendy being such a wonderful hostess. She will be missed for the fresh baked buns and pistachio cheesecake that were always a treat for all. Wendy and Charlie started their next adventure together when they purchased Rennie's Full Stop in East Selkirk in 1991. Working together and eventually with Jason joining them, they soon made themselves a part of the community. She will be missed by her many relatives and friends. Wendy would wish all who knew and loved her to celebrate her life. Her organs have been donated in hopes that they will help others. Family wishes to thank the Fire Department, First Responders, Paramedics, Selkirk General Hospital ER staff and Health Sciences Centre ER and SICU staff for all the care given to Wendy. Viewing will be held on Friday, June 12, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, MB. The celebration of Wendy's life will be Saturday, June 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Church, 227 McLean Ave., Selkirk with Rev. Brad Elliott officiating. Interment will follow in the Cloverdale United Churchyard Cemetery. Lunch to follow at the Christ Church Hall. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Michael, Matthew, Alan and Kenny Kirner, Cory Stewart and Nigel Chapil. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Selkirk General Hospital, Box 5000, 100 Hospital Drive, Selkirk, MB R1A 2M2. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
