DEBORAH ALWYNE SHELTON April 15, 1955 - May 27, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear friend and mother, Deborah. Grieving her loss is her daughter Sage. Also mourning are daughter Ida Mae, son Kerry, grandchildren Tristyn and Brendan, sisters Shannon and Kathy, as well as numerous friends and co-workers. Deborah was an intelligent, questioning person who always sought to know more. To this end, she had obtained her Bachelor of Arts at the U of W, her Bachelor of Social Work at the U of M as well as her Master of Public Affairs, also at the U of M. She was always very active in the Wolseley Community, and had friends from many different walks of life, her open mind and huge heart endearing her to many. She had worked at both Laura Secord Elementary School as well as Wolseley Community School, and was, at the time of her passing, employed at Vita Health, where she was considered a shining star by her employer and her vast knowledge and kind demeanor were well appreciated by her customers. Always concerned about the well-being of children, Deborah worked extensively with children in foster care. Deborah supported many causes, both for human and animal welfare. Her work and her loving presence have made an impact on the hearts and minds of many. Deborah was one of those people who knew everybody and was known by everyone. Wherever she went, she would meet people who knew her. She was the person that everyone went to when they needed help or advice. Deborah was not afraid to tell it like it is , a trait which many of her friends relied on when they needed it most. A Conversation with the Creator I asked the Creator, They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless? the Creator said, Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you. I further inquired, But tell me, here in spirit I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy. the Creator said, Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy. Again I asked, And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language? the Creator said, Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak. And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you? the Creator said, Your angel will teach you that as well. Who will protect me? the Creator said, Your angel will defend you even if it means risking it's life. But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore. The Creator said, Your angel will always talk to you and keep you safe... At that moment there was much peace in my Spirit, but voices from Earth could be heard and I hurriedly asked, Creator, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name. The Creator said, You will simply call her, Mom. Deborah was our angel, she was our mom We love you and will miss you always, Thank you - Ida Mae and Kerry - Mom, you were a very kindhearted woman and you will be deeply missed. - Sage - Deborah's Funeral Service and interment are to be held at St. James Cemetery, 525 Tylehurst Street, at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2009, with reception to follow at Wolseley Community School, 511 Clifton Street.
