KATHERINA SAWATZKY On June 8, 2009, our dear mother, grandmother, nana, sister, sister-in-law and aunt peacefully went to her eternal rest. Mom was born in Hasket, Manitoba on February 12, 1919. She married Jacob (Jake) Sawatzky on October 29, 1939. Mom and dad resided in Winkler, Manitoba until 1954 when they relocated to Winnipeg. Mom worked at Perth's Dry Cleaners for 25 years as a seamstress. Mom loved to knit and crochet and created enough afghan's and sweaters to keep her family and friends warm for years to come. Mom was predeceased by dad on April 1, 1990, her brother Henry in 1989, and by her grandson Darren in 1991. Left to mourn her memory are her daughter Marlene (Bruce) Amell, son Larry (Diane) Sawatzky, grandchildren Kimberly, Darcy (Rob), Bryce, Christopher, Jason (Tanis), great-grand daughters Tiffany, Brieanne, brother Peter (Mary) Elias as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 1997. In March of 2003 she moved to Riverview Health Care Centre. The family wishes to thank the staff of CD2 for accepting mom as part of their family and for the excellent care and compassion. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at the Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd (Hwy. 59).
