Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERHARD ERICH RITTER July 17, 1911 June 11, 2009 Erhard was born in Germany and came to Canada in 1952 with his wife Elizabeth and son Herbert Tex . Erhard worked for Manitoba Telephone until his retirement at age 65 in 1976. His wife, Elizabeth Ritter and his son, Herbert Tex Ritter and his grandson, John Thomas Ritter, predeceased Erhard. Erhard had a gift and passion for music. As a young man he studied classical music and played piccolo and flute in orchestras in Germany. Later years in Canada he played in a small band for weddings and special occasions. His passion continued over the years. His home was always filled with music. The residents and staff of Middlechurch Senior's Home endured his playing of Operas, and Arias on his CD player. His most recent joys were the Andre Rieu DVDs and CDs of Heppner Wagner. Erhard had a passion for family and friends. He was always generous with his time and caring for people. The family had a love of animals. Many cats and dogs relished the love and attention given by him and all the family. His favourite time at Middlechurch was when he could go outside and pet and feed the goats. Sometimes the goats came to see him! Erhard is survived by his grandson Richard Eric Ritter, his daughter-in-law Jacqueline Ritter of Oakville, Ontario, his niece Ursula Bertschinger and her sons Rico and Mario Bertschinger and their families of Winnipeg, and the Manfred Ritter family of Schloss-Holte Stukenbrock, Germany. Erhard's wishes will be respected in that there will not be a funeral service. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 0R3 or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. To the nurses and all the staff at B2 in Middlechurch Senior's home, please accept our heartfelt thanks for all the wonderful care you gave to our beloved Erhard.
