GEORGE NORRIS BROOKES George Norris Brookes passed away peacefully at his residence on June 1, 2009 at the age of 80 years. He is survived by his loving wife Emelie, children Athol (Jackie), Pad (Vicki), Petra, Vernon (Gleneth), Judith, Hertika, grand-children Tawnya, Valerie (Alan) and Shannon as well as great grandchildren Alyrique, Sanaala. Also left to cherish his memory are his nieces Irene, Myrtle, Jacqueline, Marjorie, Agnes, Yvonne and nephew Elton and sister-in-law Clara (Harold) Walters as well as many other nieces, nephews and especially Emelie's big sister Lorna. George was predeceased by his parents Blanche and Melvin Brookes, brothers Emmanuel, Eurie and James and Fred, sisters Nora and Finey and Agatha and Ruth. George was born on June 22, 1928 in Gingerland, Nevis, West Indies to parents Blanche and Melvin Brookes. Immigrated to England in 1960 and worked with Leeds Transport until his immigration to Canada in 1975. He then worked at Standard Auto Springs. After retirement, he began to travel and made many visits to his family in Nevis. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 51 years, Emelie and family and friends.
