ELIZABETH (BETTY) MAINER (nee DAW) On Saturday June 13, 2009, aged 86, Mom passed peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital. Mom was predeceased by her parents in 1978 and our Dad, Bob in 1987. Mom is survived by son Jim (Pat) of Calgary, son John (Pam) and daughter Catherine (Dave Dunsford) of Winnipeg as well as her five grandchildren Alison (Mark England) and Colin of Calgary, David of Edmonton, Bonnie and Lauryn of Winnipeg. Mom is also survived by her elder sister Margery of Edmonton, nephew Robert of Winnipeg and niece Margaret of Edmonton. Mom lived her entire life in Winnipeg, twice in the West End, West Kildonan and the past 53 years, in St. Vital. She worked after graduation from Daniel Mac in 1940 and before marriage in 1948, and part time later in life. She dedicated her time between, with Bob, raising us three and enjoying her life. Family vacations at the beach, numerous picnics in the park and several trips by train to the west coast were the norm for many years. Mom cherished her life long friends including her bridge and rummolie girls, her stitch and bitch club, her church affiliations and especially the Croasdells, Dawsons, Horwoods, Jervis's and Spillett's. Our family appreciates the wonderful, kind and compassionate care provided these past few months by the staff of 3 and 5 at the Victoria General Hospital. Thank you, you are all very special people. There will be a memorial service for Mom on Friday, June 19 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church at 3 St. Vital Rd., in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate you making a donation to one of Mom's long time charities, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, CancerCare Manitoba, Canadian Diabetes or any of your choosing.
