MARION ALLAN WHITEHEAD June 13, 1922 June 14, 2009 Marion Whitehead Nanny quietly passed away on June 14, 2009 at the Riverview Care Centre at the age of 87 years. She has left to cherish her memory Howard, her husband of 53 years; son Bob (Susan) Wilkes; grandchildren, Ketri Wilkes (Amanda), Christie Wilkes (Mike) and Margo Beatty (Mark); great-grandchildren, Dane, Jesse, Mackenzie and Grace; sister Beatrice Toots Abbott and her family Marilyn Templeton and Rick Abbott and their families. Nanny grew up in the west end and attended Gordon Bell High School. She was a very independent and decisive woman. Her ability to organize was a strong asset in business over the years, particularly at G. R. Ternouth Sales and Williams Restaurant Supply. Marion was an excellent athlete. She bowled for many years, where she met her husband Howie. As a member of the Wildwood Club she curled, achieving an 8-ender, and golfed, representing the club in the Ladies Nassau League. Her main love was her family and the long summers at the cottage in Minaki, the place she cherished for over 70 years and where she ruled the roost. She loved swimming, boating, fishing, shore lunches and playing cards and games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Victoria Hospital, Home Palliative Care Program, Riverview Care Centre and Sterling House for their gentle and compassionate care. A service of celebration of Marion's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday June 23, 2009 at Young United Church, corner of Broadway and Furby. Memorial donations may be made to Young United Church or Cancer Care Manitoba. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 BROADWAY, WINNIPEG, MB R3C OX4 783-7211 Send expressions of sympathy at www.mem.com
