IHOR PIDHIRNYJ It is with deep sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Ihor Pidhirnyj, 58, after a lengthy illness. Born in Oldham, England, Ihor immigrated to Canada with his family as a young child. He attended St. John's High School and the University of Manitoba, and was a member of the Ukrainian Youth Association (CYM) and the Sts. Volodymyr and Olga Cathedral. A real self-starter, Ihor excelled in whatever he undertook. He was an accomplished real-estate agent; then turned his focus to independent contracting and stuccoing, a business interrupted in recent years by his debilitating illness. Ihor is survived by his mother Maria; sister Myroslava and her children Roman, Tamara and Markian; daughter Tetiana and his two companion cats. He was predeceased by his father Petro. Panakhyda (prayers) will be sung at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 21 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at Sts. Volodymyr and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22 with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat M. Buyachok officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to the Canadian Ukrainian Institute Prosvita or to the Dialysis Unit, Seven Oaks Hospital.
