LEO JOSEPH MALO 1935 2009 Peacefully on the morning of June 16, 2009, Leo passed away at the age of 74 with his family and friends by his side enjoying the great outdoors. Leo Joseph Malo was born on June 2, 1935. He was raised in Pine Falls and went on to live in Calgary then Winnipeg. Throughout his life, he and his wife Marie worked together in the vacuum industry. Leo was a Divisional Manager for Electrolux, and then went on to establish his own business, Ness Vacuum which he and Marie ran successfully for many years. Leo and Marie's success gave them the opportunity to open two other stores, St. James Vacuum and Portage Avenue Vacuum. Leo was known by his customers for his honesty and integrity. He always took pride in his work. Leo was the type of man who put others' needs before his own and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was known at the personal care homes as a ladies man . He had a great sense of humour and could make other people laugh and his smile could light up any room. Leo loved going to the casino and playing cards. Leo said, that he dodged many bullets in his lifetime but he felt it was worth it because he lived life to the fullest. He was predeceased by his wife Marie Leah Malo (nee Chouinard) in 1997 and his mother Jean Malo in (2004). Leo is survived and lovingly remembered by his stepchildren: step-daughter Rachel Turner (Glenn), step-grandchildren Kyle and Craig; stepson Cory Chouinard; stepdaughter Diane Lacasse (Stéphane) and stepgrandchildren Philippe and Mathieu. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Calvary Place especially Kevin Friesen for his unending care and support and also to the staff at Misericordia Health Centre making special note to Nicole Perras for her friendship and love. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Place Personal Care Home, 1325 Erin St. on Monday, June 22 at 1:00 p.m. A private interment will take place following the service at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, or The Canadian Diabetes Association. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
