CHARLES GORDON SMITH
Born: Dec 27, 1949
Date of Passing: May 31, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES GORDON SMITH Gordon Smith passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday May 31, 2009 at his home near Sechelt, BC after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Gordon was predeceased by his parents Percy and Dorothy Smith and leaves to mourn his brothers Robert (Margaret); Richard (Pat); sister Karen (Don); nieces and nephews and many friends; especially Kim who was with him when needed most. Gordon was born December 27, 1949 in Portage la Prairie, MB and grew up in the MacGregor area where he received his early education. He went on to earn degrees from the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba and worked for firms in Winnipeg as a chartered accountant for several years. About 20 years ago he had enough of Manitoba winters and moved to Vancouver to further pursue his accounting career; ultimately learning the accounting side of the movie business. He worked for MGM studios and was part of several successful television shows before his retirement. Gordon was a kind, generous and creative man whose many interests included music, photography and travel, but especially renovation and design of several homes during his too brief lifetime. Gordon lived life to the fullest and when he first learned that he had cancer, despite the odds, he vowed that he would never give up and he never did. Gordon will be missed by his family and many friends. As per his request there will be no formal service held. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
