ELEANOR JANET APPEL With sadness we announce the passing of Eleanor Appel (nee Abramson, Ford) after a lengthy illness. Survived by her husband of 51 years, Donald and sister-in-law Alexis. Eleanor spent many years in Toronto but always maintained a special place in her heart for Winnipeg and the friendships forged here. She suffered greatly but was able to spend all but a brief period of time at home with numerous caregivers under the watchful eye of Donald. We would like to express our gratitude to Doreen and Alfie Glass (Toronto) for their unconditional support and tireless efforts towards comforting us and accomplishing the tasks at hand. Their loyalty stretched far beyond the bounds of friendship. We acknowledge the staff at Unit D4 Scarborough Grace Hospital for the respect and expert care given to Eleanor. Cremation and service took place May 23, 2009 in Toronto on Eleanor's 93rd Birthday.
