HELEN BESYK 1931 - 2009 Peacefully on June 18, 2009 Helen passed away at Tudor House Personal Care Home with her family by her side. Left to mourn her passing are her five sisters, Frances Kulbaba, Bernice Gooley, Joyce Scribny, Joan Gooley (Art), Jackie Dola (Wayne) two brothers, Bert (Faye) and Ryan (Bernice) and many nieces and nephews. Helen was born September 21, 1931 in Winnipeg Beach where she spent her early years. Later she moved to Selkirk where she made many new friends. She spent most of her years in Selkirk where she worked for several restaurants including the Dinette, Merchants Hotel, Gordon Hotel, Lord Selkirk restaurants and Baker Boy. She was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Jennie; brothers, Tom and Arnold; brothers-in-law, Mike Kulbaba, Mike Halischuk and Wally Scribny. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lindenschmidt, Dr. Speers, Dr. Racette, Selkirk General Hospital and CancerCare Manitoba. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Tudor House Personal Care Home and Manitoba Homecare for their kindness and compassion. Funeral services will held on Wednesday, June 24 at 10:30 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Father Peter Chorney officiating. Interment will follow in the Holy Rosary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Ford, Brent Dola, Kevin Dobrowolski, Leslie Ford, Kim Ford and Charlene Samagalski. In lieu of flowers , if friends and family desire, donations in Helen's memory can be made to CancerCare Manitoba 675 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg, MB. R3E 0V9. Gilbart Funeral Home Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
