Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEPHEN STANLEY SUSKY August 23, 1920 - June 22, 2009 The family of Stephen Susky are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and Grandpa, who is now at peace. Stephen leaves to mourn his wife Olia, children Michael, Cathie (Michael), grandsons Jerrod, Jeremy and Justin Kusyk, and one brother Donald. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Katherine, Olia's parents Michael and Mary Borodie, brothers Joseph, Peter, Stanley, Bill, Alec, Andrew, sisters Rose, Mary, Agnes, Helen, and Verna. Susky attended school in Polonia and Teulon before serving in the Canadian Army from 1941 to 1945. Over 35 years of teaching would follow and include Twyford, Oakburn, Melrose, Munroe, Lord Wolseley, Princess Margaret and John DeGraff Schools. It was teaching at the Oakburn School that Susky met Olia, the love of his life. They shared a wonderful marriage of nearly 54 years. A devoted family man, his pride and joy were his three grandsons, the first being born on the day of his retirement. Dad lived an active retirement. He volunteered for many years at Middlechurch Home and participated in several curling club leagues. Travelling throughout Canada, the U.S., Europe, Britain, and China, he came to claim Hawaii as his most frequent and favourite destination. He enjoyed being outside most of all tending to his gardens and going for long walks. His faith, the supportive prayers from many friends and the love for his family enabled him to overcome many past health challenges. Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, 3597 Main Street at 10:30 a.m. Sincere thank you to Father Michael of St. Theresa's Parish and the Seven Oaks Emergency staff for every kindness. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to W.A.S.O. or S.P.I.K.E. in Dad's memory. Susky, You were my nights, You were my days You were my miracle in so many ways You gave me hope, You carried on You were my miracle, For you made me strong. Ever loved, Olia Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
