Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDARREL WYNN HEWKO October 27, 1957 - June 22, 2009 Monday, June 22, 2009, with his loved ones by his side, Darrel breathed his last triumphant breath after a noble fight against pancreatic cancer. What a valiant journey by a guy who never gave up! Darrel will always be alive in the hearts of his mom Amy, his daughters Christine and Jessica and their mother Sharon, his partner Marylyn and her sons Dean and Colin, his siblings Judy (Dennis), Donna, Barry (Susan), Murray (Karen), his nieces and nephews, and his many loyal and faithful friends. Recently Darrel worked in the restoration business for GWR as a quality control supervisor. A hard and meticulous worker was he. But he knew how to play hard too. If you ever saw a streak in the snow or a trail of dust in the air you could be sure Darrel and his snowmobile or motorcycle had been there! He had one speed, wide-open ! His pride and joy were the vintage Old Blue along with his 1971 Datsun Truck. But his greatest love of all were his children. They knew how to put a sparkle in his eye! Darrel loved to reminisce about his many snowmobiling adventures. He knew all the trails in Eastern Manitoba and all the stops along the way, often chatting with locals he'd met over the years. He and his good friend Rob rode them often. Darrel's zest for life and his courageous spirit are a constant reminder for each of us to live every day to the fullest. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Darrel's memory to a charity of your choice. A celebration of Darrel's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Green Acres Funeral Home. A private family interment will be held in Green Acres Cemetery.
