JEAN GILSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend Jean Gilson (Rudy), on Sunday, June 21, 2009, while at the same time, celebrating with great pride, her selfless love and friendship to all who knew her. Jean was predeceased by her life love James Clayton Gilson, her mother and father Mary and John Rudy and her dear sister-in-law Joan Rudy. Jean is survived by her immensely handsome four sons, Stuart, wife Susan, Garth, wife Heather and daughter Marissa, David, wife Terri and children Clayton and Abigail, and Brian, wife Audrey daughter Mckayla. She is further survived by her loving brother Harry Rudy and his family, who were, and continue to be a very important part of the Gilson family. Jean was born in 1928 and was raised on small rural farms near Balmoral, Manitoba, where she developed her lifelong love of nature, animals, flowers and simple, dignified values and morals. She achieved her dream of becoming a teacher, yet selflessly gave this up to devote her full time attention and love to raising and nurturing her family, an act which shall never be forgotten. Jean enjoyed a lifetime of travel with Clay, and volunteered for many charities and organizations over her lifetime. Her true passion was her family and friends and she was always counted on to be there to support them through both adversity and success. Jean battled her cancer with a stoic resolve and defeated it by her simple refusal to abandon her strong spirit. We thank you Mom and Dad for your sacrifices which have allowed us all to achieve our dreams and we pledge to continue to live in a fashion that would honour your memories. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27 at 10:00 a.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated.
