MERLE PEICHL Peacefully, on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, Merle died at the Johnson Hospital in Gimli. Survived by sons Larry (Sharon) and Vern (Bernice), four grandchildren and six great- grandchildren, sister Noreen Olsen (Ken), sister-in-law Marg Cosford (Russ) and many nieces and nephews with whom she always kept in touch. Merle was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Gerald, in 1990, four sisters and one brother. Merle was born and raised on a farm in Saltcoats, SK and moved to Winnipeg in 1941. She worked hard all her life, at home and away, finally owning her own drapery business in Campbell River, BC. She retired in 1982 and moved to Breezy Point, where she and Gerald enjoyed entertaining their family and many friends. Merle moved to Aspen Park in Gimli in 1995 where she loved to relax in the pool and spend her best times with the family and more new friends. Merle's pride was fishing with her boys and enjoying her grand and great-grandkids. Merle was an avid fisherman, sports fan, quilter and hostess. Many Happy Hours were enjoyed by many at all her homes over the years. The family thanks the staff at Gimli Hospital for their very special care and attention. A casual memorial Happy Hour will be held at Aspen Park Rec Centre in Gimli on Sunday, July 5, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined.
