MARY ROMANIUK Mary (Todoruk) Romaniuk passed away on June 16, 2009. She was born on March 23, 1923 to Sam and Anna Todoruk in Mountain Road Manitoba, Canada. Mary married Andy Romaniuk on May 30, 1959. They were the love of each other's lives and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a special dinner for two. In 1960, Mary and Andy moved to Minneapolis and lived there until 1990 when they moved to Rochester. In 2006, they moved to Kasson and lived at Prairie Meadows Assisted Living. Mary worked at Singer Sewing Machine in Winnipeg and at Justers Clothing Store when they lived in Minneapolis. Mary's favourite activity was spending time with her beloved Andy. She also enjoyed polka music, dancing, gardening, sewing and traveling. Mary was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1975, leukemia in 1988, necrotizing vasculitis in 1998 and Alzheimer's disease in 2001. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bill. Mary is survived by her husband, Andy, of Kasson, MN and her sisters, Helen and Doreen and her brother, Sonny, all of Canada. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada. A memorial service will also be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Kasson, MN. The Church is located at 1904 Mantorville Ave. N. Kasson, MN. A lunch will follow the service. Thank you to the Mayo Clinic doctors and nurses who cared for Mary and made her life easier. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Mayo Clinic Research at Mayo Clinic Department of Development, 200 1st St. SW Rochester, MN USA 55905.
