Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAROSLAV (JERRY) VALOUSEK Jaroslav (Jerry) Valousek passed away on June 13, 2009 at the Grace Hospital with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife Helga, his daughter Peggy, son in-law Jim Poole and his two grandsons Steven and Kenneth. Jerry was born on March 27, 1925 and raised in Bozenice, Czeskoslovakia. In September 1950 he arrived in Austria where he met Helga. They were married in 1952. In August of 1954 they immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada where they started their new life and family. Jerry was an avid flying enthusiast (he was a pilot in the Czech Air force). In Winnipeg he was able to achieve his flying instructors rating at the Winnipeg Flying Club, where he subsequently worked for years as a Flying Instructor. He enjoyed his work, to teach and give many young pilots a headstart into their future as pilots, may it be just for recreation or to carry on and become airline pilots. He was well liked among his peers. He also managed to get his wife interested in aviation and they spent many hours in the skies together. Jerry loved to spend time in the Whiteshell at their family cabin. To him there was nothing better than fishing off of the dock in front of the cottage. Jerry spent the last two years at the Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home having lived with Alzheimer's for many years. Jerry's burial was on June 22, 2009 and he was laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, with his closest family present. After his long illness he now rests in peace. Jerry will be missed, especially by his family. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
