Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySAMUEL KIRKPATRICK 1931 - 2009 Surrounded by his loving family, Sam Kirkpatrick peacefully passed away at Grace Hospital on June 25, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Sam leaves to mourn his loving wife of 50 years Betty (Langan), his daughters Sandra (Ken) Traverse, Kimberley (Sterling) Kirkpatrick-Wall, his grandchildren Jennifer (Craig) Johnston, Kyle Traverse (Hailley), Sydney Kirkpatrick-Wall, numerous sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, extended family members in Northern Ireland and Canada. Sam was predeceased by parents Samuel and Annie Kirkpatrick, sisters Meta Greer and Sandra Kirkpatrick. Sam was born in Ballyveelly, Northern Ireland on May 28, 1931. In 1953 Sam came to Canada and went to work in Alberta. He came to Winnipeg in 1957 where he met Betty and married in 1959, residing in Winnipeg for 52 years. Sam worked all his life, retiring in 1991 from the Manitoba Government Services. In retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Sam's hobbies included hunting, fishing and tinkering around the yard and in the garage with many projects. Sam always had something to do and could never sit still. Thank you to the staff of the third floor North at the Grace Hospital for their care and compassion of Sam. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6. Memorial service will be held Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Monsignor Comeault officiating. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
