Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLYDIA SCHEDLER Peacefully in her sleep on June 22, 2009 at Fred Douglas Lodge in Winnipeg, MB, Lydia Schedler, aged 91 years, formerly of Moosehorn, MB, passed away. Her memory is cherished by her son Donald (Susan), daughter Ruth (Bill) Dueck, son-in-law Vic Toews , grandchildren Lisa (Rob) Bauch, Billy (Aimee) Schedler, Andrea (Eric ) Rempel, Scott (Bev) Dueck, Tiffany and Brittany Toews, great grandchildren Haly, Kaitlin, Emily Rempel. Also warmly remembered by her sister Emma Waterman, brother Henry Frederick, brothers-in-law George and Edwin Schedler along with numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends. Lydia was born March 4, 1918 in Winnipeg, MB to Ludwig and Marie Frederick. She was the fourth child of eight and was raised in the Bayton School District near Moosehorn, MB. She achieved her grade eight at Bayton School and attended church at St. Thomas Church near her home. During her young adult years, she was a farm labourer and housekeeper at Sanford, MB for the Junkin family who became life-long friends. She returned to Moosehorn where on December 8, 1944, she married Bill Schedler. They farmed on the Schedler homestead together until Bill's passing in 1973. She continued to run the family farm with the aid of her son Donald. She retired in 1987. Lydia then took many travelling tours with her younger sister Hilda. In her spare time she enjoyed making patchwork quilts on her treadle sewing machine. In October of 2000, she experienced the life changing event of an automobile accident during which her daughter Marie and sister Hilda were killed and she and her two granddaughters Tiffany and Brittany were injured. After recovering she was able to still live in her own home with the aid of the Ashern Home Care Attendants until the age of 90. She was predeceased by her parents Ludwig and Maria Frederick, husband Bill, four children, daughter Dorothea at age 16, an infant son at birth, daughter Mabel at age two years and daughter Marie at age four, brothers Arthur, Edward and Albert, sisters Elsie Gerring and Hilda Waterman along with numerous other in-laws. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date at the Peace Lutheran Church in Moosehorn, MB. Interment to follow at the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Moosehorn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. The family wishes to thank the Ashern Home Care staff, the Ashern Personal Care Home staff and the Fred Douglas Lodge staff for the care that they gave Mom over the past few years.
