MARGARET HAZEL WILKINSON Margaret Hazel Wilkinson died peacefully on June 23, 2009. Mom was predeceased by her parents Christopher and Katherine Johnstone; by her beloved husband John; by her brother Cecil and sisters Edna and Ray. She is survived by daughters Catherine Shelton (Andrew), Margaret Ann Brown (Fred), Emma Wilkinson and Joan Sitterud (Jay) and by son Jack (Eileen); also by brother Harold (Elsie) and sister Isabel Bonell; and grandchildren Heather, Maggie, Andrew, Chris, Gregory, Robin, Katherine, Paige, Jennifer, Allison, Pamela, Andrea, David, Lana, Amy and Emily and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Little Britain, Manitoba on September 26, 1914. In her youth she led an active life. She was a member of Little Britain United Church, loved sports and outings with the CGIT. In 1937, she graduated from the Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing where she made many life-long friends. In 1939, she married John Wilkinson and their life together revolved around their family - raising five children and keeping connected to their extended family throughout parts of Canada and the U.S. Mom found time to volunteer with Meals on Wheels, the Red Cross and later in life the Dugald Costume Museum. Mom will be lovingly remembered for her infectious sense of fun and her love of life and laughter. She was a formidable Scrabble player and never turned down a game. Also a lover of bridge and crosswords, she took her enjoyment as much from the other players as from the game. She enjoyed being close to nature and treasured her time with her family at Brereton Lake. But mostly Mom loved being with her family, near and far, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom, we honour with much love your dedication to your family. Mom and her family appreciated the thoughtful care she received in her last years at the Rosewood. The family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Victoria General Hospital for their sympathetic and professional care. A funeral service and burial of ashes will be held at Little Britain United Church, located at 5879 Hwy #9, Lockport, MB, 25 kms north of Winnipeg, on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Virginia Coleman officiating. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Mom's name could be made to a favourite charity. Neil Bardal Inc. 204-949-2200 info@nbardal.mb.ca
