Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET (DEL) HARRIES (nee PETERSON) Margaret Delma (Peterson) Harries was born January 1, 1942 on the farm in Duck Lake, Saskatchewan and passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009. She attended elementary school in a one-room school in Wingard, then had to move to Duck Lake to complete high school. Delma attended normal school in Saskatoon. After one year she accepted a teaching job in a one-room school in the Maple Creek, SK area. After two years, she accepted a teaching position in Dawson City, Yukon. Del spent one year there, then transferred to Whitehorse, Yukon. It is there she met and married Ken Harries on January 15, 1965. In 1967, Ken and Del moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba. While in Winnipeg, Del completed her degrees, B.A. and B.Ed., while continuing to teach full time. She also worked one year in Scotland on an exchange program. Del retired from teaching in 1997 but continued to do substitute teaching until her death. Del's passions were gardening, golfing, crosswords and canning. Del made an annual trip to the farm in Saskatchewan. Del was predeceased by her parents Sydney and Florence Peterson. Del is survived by her husband Ken, her sister Elaine Peterson, her brother Harold (Denise) Peterson, her nephew Dean (Carlene), and her nieces Lesley and Allison. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Avenue, Aubrey Street entrance. NEIL BARDAL INC. 204-949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
