DAVE HIEBERT May 17, 1942 - June 26, 2009 On June 26, 2009, Dave passed away at Selkirk General Hospital with family members present. He was a beloved husband and father and is lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 40 years Jean and his two sons, Wayne and Alan (Gail) and grandchildren Karyssa, Bailey and Rachel, his extended family Angela, Lesley and Neil, Gerri and Rob, Erin and Nicholas. He is also survived by brothers, Henry, Jake, sister Helen and sister-in-law Evelyn as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Mary, his in-laws, Stan and Kay Sanders, brothers, Bill, John and Abe, and sisters-in-law, Dona, Alma, Carol and brother-in-law Bill. Dave was born in Marquette, MB on May 17, 1942, the youngest of seven children. He stayed on the family farm until his early twenties when he went to work for the highways department, then for Standard Quarries until he bought his own gravel truck and trailer in 1976. He owned his own trucks for the rest of his trucking years, which lasted until shortly after he was diagnosed with Leukemia in August of 2008. The family sends many heartfelt thanks to Dr. Demsas and Dr. Lindenschmidt at Selkirk Hospital all the nurses on the second floor Arlene and staff in Palliative care, Brenda in Home Care and Kim in Occupational Therapy. Special thanks to Mel and Deb in the chemo department for your extra care and attention paid to Dave and the rest of us, as well as to our many friends and family members for their thoughtfulness and support. Prayer service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, in Stonewall, for those who wish, viewing will take place for one hour prior to service. Funeral service will be on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, in Stonewall also with viewing taking place one hour prior. Lunch to follow. Private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue Winnipeg, MB are gratefully appreciated.
