Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROLAND ALBERT ROY August 17, 1919 - June 28, 2009 It is with deep sorrow and regret that we announce the sudden passing of our loving father, grandfather, brother and friend at his residence on Sunday, June 28, 2009. Predeceased by his beloved wife Yvette in November 2007, he leaves to mourn, daughter Jeanne (Ed) Turenne, sons Urbain (Elizabeth), Larry (Linda), Louis (Jeannine), Paul (Lorraine), grandchildren, Brigitte, Lisa, John, Janessa, Andre, Justin, Colin, Morgan and Mackenzie. He also leaves to mourn his remaining two brothers, Clement and Hervé and three sisters Rita, Anita and Claire. Born in East End, Saskatchewan, he was raised for a period of time until the age of 16 in Quebec. Roland worked on his father's farm until he entered the military Regina Rifles. After his military service he met and married his beloved wife Yvette in 1946, where they settled in Zenon Park Saskatchewan and started their business Roy's Meat and Locker Plant. After a tragic fire in 1962, losing their home and business, they moved to Winnipeg to continue raising their children, rebuild their lives and start a new business, Roy's Refrigeration which his son continues to operate successfully to this day. His retirement was fully enjoyed going every winter to Texas, and summers at Twin Beach, Manitoba and later Ingolf, Ontario. His later years he truly enjoyed going on his scooter to the Norwood Legion to play pool. He also very much enjoyed going to the St. Boniface coffee shops to meet with friends and to share a few jokes and laughs. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 3, 2009 at St. Boniface Cathedrale, 190 Cathedrale with Father Marcel Damphousse celebrant. A private interment will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Roland's memory to a charity of one's choice.
