WILLIAM ERNEST (ERNIE) EVANS Our Ernie, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, took his final journey on June 27, 2009. He will be sorely missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Jackie, daughter Ginny (Ivan), sons Bryan (Jule), John (Nancy) and Gerry (Debbie), six grandchildren, Chris, Ian, Kathleen, Kristen, Sherilyn and Lisa, and six great-grandchildren. Ernie worked for MTS for 22 years and for Edmonton Telephones for ten years. Upon retirement he returned to Winnipeg. In 1988, he and Jackie moved to Buffalo Point and had ten wonderful years there, travelling to Florida for the winters. Health issues brought them back home to Winnipeg in 1998. He was a charter member for the MTS Pioneers, belonged to the St. Vital Historical Society, the Thursday Morning Breakfast Club with his school buddies and The Dakota Lawn Bowling and Floor Curling Club at the Dakota Community Club. The family would like to express their appreciation for the excellent care, compassion and support received from the staffs of Health Sciences ICU, Victoria Hospital 5th Floor and Riverview Health Centre 3 East. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday July 11, 2009 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home (455 Lagimodiere Blvd., south of the Royal Canadian Mint). In lieu of flowers, donations in Ernie's name may be made to the St. Vital Historical Museum, 600 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg, MB. REST IN BLESSED PEACE DEAR ERNIE Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550
