MARY ANN MAZUR Mary A. Mazur, age 93, passed on June 26, 2009 in Vero Beach, Florida. Mary was a native of Toronto. Her parents were Paul and Pauline Ostapowich. They were born in the Ukraine and immigrated to Canada in 1916. Mary married a handsome young engineer from Winnipeg named John on May 1, 1943. They soon moved to sunny Florida in 1953 and spent the rest of their lives there. Mary was very involved with the Vero Beach art club and the Centre for the Arts. She used her artistic talent and evolved into an accomplished artist, specializing in seascapes and still life. She played the mandolin by ear, having never taken a single lesson, and more recently played her organ as a means of relaxation. She is survived by her brother Peter and sister Ann, two sons Jim and Peter, their wives Ann and Ruth, Mary's three grandkids Jennifer, Rebecca and John, and a great-grandchild Sacha Ann (to John and Megan). Prayers will be held on Sunday, July 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Monday, July 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church, Cook's Creek, MB with Rev. Fr. Taras Kowch officiating. Interment to follow in Parish Cemetery, Cook's Creek. Ever quick witted and always a lady, she will be missed by her family and her bevy of friends.
