Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH ADELARD LEO GENDREAU It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Leo on July 2, 2009. Leo was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Alice (nee Rousseau), his wife Rita (nee Lavack) and his brothers, Hector, Marcel, Paul and Henry. Leo is survived by his only sister Florence McMullen (nee Gendreau), his daughters, Louise, Alice and Cecilia as well as his many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Leo will be missed by his longtime friends Jacques Juneau of High Level, Alberta and Marcel Mongeon and daughter Maureen of Camperville, Manitoba. He will be greatly missed by his most supportive and best friend of 30 plus years, Fred. Leo was born in Ponteix, Saskatchewan on June 28, 1926. He completed his basic education there and went on to get his Teaching Certificate and Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Manitoba. Leo taught in Rural Manitoba for many years as well as in Winnipeg until his retirement in 1981. Perhaps one of Leo's greatest pleasures was playing cards with his family and friends. His preferred game was Barouche and Leo could always be counted on to provide good competition to anyone who challenged him. In keeping with Leo's wishes, cremation has taken place. At Leo's request, a graveside service will take place at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery on Monday, July 13, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Amant Centre, 440 River Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 3Z9.
