I have profound memories of Anatol as my calculus math professor at Keyano College. His silent encouragement and kindness continues to stay with me to this day. Thank you. - Posted by: Ellen Simmons (Student) on: Oct 26, 2015

Memories of 'Tolly' were very warming, humorous and educational. He was a beloved friend of my dad, my mom, my brother and myself. Those summer evenings on our front deck, Friday movie nights, UBC bookstore shopping and flying kites, will never be forgotten. We lost touch but you were always a member of the family. Love you. - Posted by: Iain Sokalski (friend) on: May 12, 2013

Anatol's wonderful sense of humour and fun encompassed children as well as adults. We loved his famous garlic chicken - and classical guitar. His eclectic love of music ranged from Bach to Mick Jagger to Emmy Lou Harris. As a mathematician, he would work throughout the night on math puzzles and inventions. He read prodigiously, had an early love of tennis, fencing and chess, and (like his father) delighted in architectural drawing. He relished a good debate and conversations with friends could last hours. He enjoyed teaching and students often sought him out. Kind, brilliant, generous....fellow teacher, housemate, rare friend - Posted by: Jo Ann Gainor (Friend) on: Dec 17, 2009

I was saddened and surprised to hear of Anatol's passing. I hired Anatol to teach at Keyano in 1981. While he was a very quiet and solitary person, he was very dedicated to his teaching and students. He was always very caring and committed to their success. His life will carry on in his students' memories of him. He was a special part of Keyano's development as a college, and I feel a real sense of loss.
