WERNER ( DEUCE ) DUESTERDIEK Peacefully, on Sunday, July 5, 2009, after a brief battle with cancer, Werner (Deuce) passed away at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 61 years. Deuce was predeceased by his parents, Werner and Alice Duesterdiek. He is survived by his sons, Brad and Chris; stepdaughters, Melanie, Sandra and Jennifer; his brothers, Erhard (Marja), Karl (Joan), and his sister, Gerda; his nieces, Nadya, Tanya, Giselle, and Jasmine, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins in both Canada and Germany. Deuce was born in Germany and raised in the West End of Winnipeg. He attended Isaac Brock and Daniel McIntyre Schools. He joined the Canadian Forces in 1966 and retired in 1991 when he took up permanent residence in the West End. A special heartfelt thanks is extended to Deuce's hospice buddy, Irv Hildebrand and the nursing staff at Riverview 3E. Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Neil Bardal Inc., 3030 Notre Dame Ave. (across from Brookside Cemetery), on Saturday, July 11 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Deuce's memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. I have been trying to locate Werner for a long time; so sad to have come across this obituary. Deuce and I were good buddies in Borden. So sorry that he is not with us anymore. Belated condolences. Don - Posted by: Donald Smith (Military friend.) on: Apr 17, 2015
