Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALFRED ZIESMAN February 16, 1928 - June 29, 2009 It is with deep sorrow and regret that we announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather, brother and friend at his residence on Monday, June 29, 2009. Alfred was predeceased by his beloved wife Jessie in 1993 and daughter Donna in 1996. Alfred was also predeceased by his parents Wilhelmina and Samuel, brothers; Reinhold, Ephriam (Bud), Edmund and sisters; Jenny Goodson and Olga Ziesman Young. Alfred leaves to mourn, his daughter Kathleen and grandsons Matthew and Nicholas, sisters; Sofina McLean (Bill), Elma Clark (John), Alena Eiesinger, and his dearest friend and companion Lenore Henry as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Alfred was born on February 16, 1928 in Moosehorn, Manitoba, the youngest of nine children. When Alfred was 16 years old, his family moved to the Kenora/Keewatin area in Ontario. He found work with The Lake of the Woods Flour Company and the Railway during his teenage and early adult years in the Kenora area. It was during his life here that he eventually met Jessie Shaw and they were married in 1955. In the early 60's Alfred and Jessie and by then their two children Donna and Kathleen moved to Winnipeg. It was in Winnipeg where Alfred worked for Molson Brewery and after amalgamation became Associated Brewers Distributors, as a truck driver and delivery person in the city until his retirement at age 65. Alfred was a union representative and enjoyed mentoring young people who joined the company. He often took a second job as a plumber in the evenings to provide for his family. Alfred always worked very hard physically and was in very good health most of his life. Alfred and Jessie purchased a home on Walker Avenue in Fort Rogue where he remained until the end of his life. It was his early life in Kenora that instilled in him a love of the outdoors and his two passions-hunting and fishing. Alfred loved to hunt particularly in the Virden area and he and Jessie would take any opportunity they could to go fishing. He and his family would also spend many happy days fishing and camping. When Alfred retired, he and Jessie traveled with a small camper all over North America including the Northwest Territories and Alaska. Alfred and Jessie loved to watch all types of sporting events on television, particularly hockey, football and baseball. His favourite NHL team was the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jessie also kept Alfred busy with various home renovation and decorating projects that he completed with great pride. After Jessie's death, Alfred had the good fortune to meet Lenore Henry. They spent many years of companionship and were able to travel to warmer climates to escape the Winnipeg winters. We would like to extend special thanks to Lenore Henry, Paulette Fillmore and Tim Abrey for their help and support during the last little while. Cremation has taken place and a private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
