ALLAN COVERDALE Peacefully, on July 9, 2009, Allan Coverdale left this world for a better place. Allan was born in Teulon, Manitoba, on February 24, 1930, to George and Pearl Coverdale. He was predeceased by his parents; his siblings Earl, May, Louise, Harold and Elmer; and his beloved daughters Barbara and Peggy. Allan leaves behind his family, Betty Coverdale, daughters Kathy, and Donna (partner Wayne and family), his grandchildren: Meredith McIntyre, Sean McIntyre (partner Tasha, children Ross and Keaton), Audrey McIntyre (daughter Tayler), Tiana Valen (partner Allan), Tyler Valen (partner Danna and children Dylan and Tyson). Dad was raised west of Teulon on the family farm and spent much of his adulthood as the manager of Blue Meadows Ranch. He was an incredible cattleman and enjoyed working with livestock and being outdoors. After moving to Inwood, he also worked for McSherry Auction Service for many years. He truly enjoyed his time there, staying in touch with the cattle business, and he certainly loved auction sales. Dad was also a great 4-H supporter, being a beef club leader for many years, and always enjoyed working with the kids. In Dad's retirement, he spent much of his time with his horses and enjoyed many trail rides and horse activities with his family and friends. He also was a supporter of the Prime Meridian Trail group and a great supporter of the Children's Wish Foundation. Dad also enjoyed going to fairs, auction sales, visiting with his friends, going for a drive and going for coffee. And, I think all that knew him would agree that his grandkids and recently his great grandkids were his pride and joy. He loved watching them grow up and spending time with them. He will be particularly missed by his best buddy, great grandson Dylan, as they spent much of the last few years together. As per Allan's wishes, no funeral will be held. A private family service will be held upon burial at Windsor Cemetery. If friends so desire, Allan wished that any donations be made to his favorite charity, the Central Interlake Sub-Chapter of the Children's Wish Foundation of Manitoba 1-800-267-9474. A celebration of Allan's life will be held with family and friends at a later date. Roy Rogers' Prayer Lord, I reckon I'm not much just by myself, I fail to do a lot of things I ought to do. But Lord, when trails are steep and passes high, Help me ride it straight the whole way through. And when in the falling dusk I get that final call, I do not care how many flowers they send, Above all else, the happiest trail would be, For YOU to say to me, Let's ride, My Friend.
