FRANK MELIA Peacefully in his sleep, John Francis Melia passed away July 7, 2009 at the age of 96 years. He was predeceased by parents John Francis and Martha Kate Melia, wife Florence, sisters Nellie Hague, and Irene Taylor. He is survived by sister Edie Young; daughters Jacqueline Frances Godwin (Dale), and Jo-Anne (Bill) Edgar; grandchildren: Michael (Melissa), Erin and Megan, Kristy, Lindsay, and Ryan, and great-granddaughter Melia Godwin; and also many nieces and nephews; and especially Maureen Taylor who was a close friend and companion. Born in St. Boniface on February 21, 1913, Frank grew up in Norwood, joining Canada Packers in 1937 working until his retirement in 1978. Taking time out to join the RCAF (Squadron 428) during the war. Upon retirement, he took up cross-country skiing, skated till he was over 80, golfed until over 90. He loved a great laugh with friends and family and holding Court At The Sals with his buddies. A modest, sincere man, Frank did not want any service at his passing.
